Vacuumschmelze (VAC) VACOCOIL Common Mode Chokes (CMCs)
Vacuumschmelze (VAC) VACOCOIL Common Mode Chokes (CMCs) feature patented VACOCOIL technology, offering a solution for the windings of high-power CMCs (>50A load currents). The VACOCOIL design uses a solid copper conductor to replace parallel copper wires, resulting in lower winding capacitance and improved attenuation, typically in the >1MHz range. Because of the reduced winding capacitance, the impedance in the frequency range >1MHz is significantly higher. The VACOCOIL technology also offers a cost-optimized solution that is typically more compact than standard designs. Ideal applications for VAC VACOCOIL chokes include automotive, wind and solar inverters, drives, and welding.

Typical Characteristics
A CMC with three parallel copper wires (3x Ø3mm, blue curve) is compared to a CMC with VACOCOIL technology (1x Ø4.5mm, red curve). There is no difference in the toroidal core used.
