Texas Instruments TPS55189-Q1 Buck-Boost Converter

Texas Instruments TPS55189-Q1 Buck-Boost Converter is a 27V, 8A converter that integrates four MOSFET switches. This converter can transit among buck mode, boost mode, and buck-boost mode depending on the input voltage and the set output voltage. The TPS55189-Q1 converter operates in boost mode when the input voltage is less than the output voltage and in buck mode when the input voltage is greater than the output voltage. This converter operates in one-cycle buck and one-cycle boost mode alternately when the input voltage is close to the output voltage. The TPS55189-Q1 converter is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications and integrates four MOSFET switches, providing a compact solution for USB Power Delivery (USB PD) applications. The TPS55189-Q1 converter is used in USB PDs, car chargers, automotive infotainment, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The TPS55189-Q1 converter features a 200kHz to 2.2MHz switching programmable frequency range by an external resistor and synchronized to an external clock. This converter offers average inductor current limit, over-voltage protections, cycle-by-cycle peak current limit, and output short circuit protection. The TPS55189-Q1 converter is available in a 3mm x 5mm HotRod™ QFN package.
