STMicroelectronics Low-Voltage STSPIN Motor Drivers

STMicroelectronics STSPIN Motor Drivers are a selection of ICs used for applications in a wide range of power ratings, motor types, and varied system partitioning. STSPIN motor drivers can be used to embed all functions to drive motors efficiently with the highest accuracy. These functions include an advanced motion profile generator to relieve the host microcontroller, and a comprehensive set of protection and diagnostic features.

STSPIN ICs use an adaptive current decay control scheme and innovative voltage mode driving for enhanced torque control accuracy that results in motion smoothness. Built-in protection and diagnostic schemes help attain long term reliability for harsh factory automation environments. The STSPIN lineup are available in a wide selection of packages that addresses a wide selection of motor and motion control system design requirements.

The STSPIN820 Stepper Motor Driver integrates control logic and a low RDSON power stage and is housed in a small QFN 4.0mm x 4.0mm package. The integrated controller implements a PWM current control with fixed OFF time and a microstepping resolution up to 1/256th of the step. The device can be forced into a low consumption state and offers protection features like overcurrent, overtemperature and short-circuit protection.

The STSPIN32F0 Advanced BLDC Controller with embedded STM32 MCU is housed in a 7.0mm x 7.0mm x 1.0mm VFQFPN-48 package. The STSPIN32F0 embeds a triple half-bridge gate driver able to drive power MOSFETs or IGBTs with a current capability of 600mA (sink and source). The high- and low-side switches of the same half-bridge can't be simultaneously driven high thanks to an integrated interlocking function.

The STSPIN32F0A is a System-In-Package providing an integrated solution suitable for driving three-phase BLDC motors using different driving modes. The STSPIN32F0A features overtemperature, undervoltage lockout protections, and can be put in standby mode to reduce power consumption. The device provides 16 general-purpose I/O ports (GPIO) with a 5V tolerant capability. The STSPIN32F0A also has one 12-bit analog-to-digital converter with up to 9 channels performing conversions in a single-shot or scan modes.

The STSPIN220 is a stepper motor driver that integrates control logic and a low RDS(on) power stage. The integrated controller implements PWM current control with fixed OFF time and a microstepping resolution up to 1/256th of a step.

The STSPIN233 device integrates a triple halfbridge low RDS(ON) power stage in a small VFQFPN 3.0mm x 3.0mm x 1.0mm package ideal for small and space constrained applications.

The STSPIN230 device integrates a triple halfbridge low RDS(ON) power stage in a small QFN 3.0mm x 3.0mm package. The device is designed to operate in battery powered scenarios and can be forced into a zero consumption state, allowing a significant increase in battery life.

The STSPIN240 is a dual brush DC motor driver integrating a low RDS(ON) power stage in a small QFN 3.0mm x 3.0mm package. Both the full-bridges implement an independent PWM current controller with fixed OFF time.

The STSPIN250 is a single-brush DC motor driver integrating a low RDS(ON) power stage in a small VFQFPN 3.0mm x 3.0mm  package. The full-bridge implements a PWM current controller with fixed OFF time. The device is designed to operate in battery powered scenarios and can be forced in a zero consumption state allowing a significant increase in battery life. The device offers a complete set of protection features including over current, over temperature and short-circuit protection.
