STMicroelectronics EVALMASTERGAN Demonstration Boards

STMicroelectronics EVALMASTERGAN Demonstration Boards are an easy-to-use and quick-to-adapt tool designed to evaluate the MASTERGAN1 or MASTERGAN2 System-in-Package (SiP). The MASTERGAN1 SiP implements a high-power density power supply that integrates a gate driver and two enhancement-mode GaN transistors in a half-bridge configuration. The MASTERGAN2 is an advanced power SiP integrating a gate driver and two enhancement-mode GaN transistors in an asymmetrical half‑bridge configuration. The EVALMASTERGAN Demonstration Boards quickly create topologies without the need for a complete PCB design.

The STM EVALMASTERGAN1 or EVALMASTERGAN2 Demonstration Boards feature an onboard programmable input deadtime generator with a single VCC supply (6V typical). Furthermore, the Board offers an embedded linear voltage regulator with a 3.3V rail to supply a low-voltage logic circuit, like microcontrollers or FPGAs.

The boards also include additional footprints for customization into the final application. These customizations include using a separate input signal/single PWM signal, external bootstrap diode, individual VCC/PVCC/Vbo supply, and a low-side shunt resistor for peak current mode topologies. All pins of the MASTERGAN1 and MASTERGAN2 are accessible.

The boards are FR-4 PCBs that measure 56mm x 70mm wide, resulting in an Rth(J-A) of 35°C/W without forced airflow.
