KEMET KPS Commercial MLCC Capacitors

KEMET KPS (KEMET Power Solutions) Commercial MLCC Capacitors deliver double the capacitance in the same or smaller footprint than traditional SMT MLCC devices. The surface mountable KPS series features lead-frame technology to vertically stack single or dual MLCC ceramic chips into a parallel circuit and single compact SMT package. The attached lead frame mechanically isolates the capacitor/s from the printed circuit board, thereby offering advanced mechanical and thermal stress protection well beyond traditional multilayer ceramic surface mount capacitors. Isolation also addresses concerns for audible, microphonic noise that may occur when a bias voltage is applied. Available in X7R dielectric, KEMET's KPS is a lead-free, RoHS-compliant, non-polar device. By utilizing ceramic technology, KPS offers significant advantages in ESR and ESL when compared to other dielectric solutions.

The KPS components are ideal for applications with piezoelectric or mechanical noise concerns, such as in the industrial, automotive, military, and/or telecom industries. The KEMET KPS MLCC Capacitors are also useful in smoothing circuits, DC-DC converters, and power supplies and increasing flex resistance in board flex applications (up to 10mm). The AEC-Q200 Automotive Qualified KPS Series MLCC capacitors are also available.

The KPS MLCC Series also includes higher voltage MLCCs (500VDC to 630VDC) in both standard and automotive grade. These capacitors are used in switching power supplies, lighting ballasts, and in industries related to hybrid automotive, telecommunications, medical, military, aerospace, semiconductors, and test/diagnostic equipment.
