Cree LED CV28D 3-in-1 Lensed SMD LEDs

Cree LED CV28D 3-in-1 Lensed SMD LEDs feature FusionBeam™ technology and an IPx6/IPx8 water-resistant rating in a PLCC6 package. FusionBeam technology fuses colors and blends RGB into white while directing the beam of light to the intended viewers. The technology can display text, logos, and icons and reduce light pollution horizontally and vertically. These high-performance tricolor SMT LEDs are designed for a wide range of applications. A super-matched viewing angle and high brightness make these LEDs suitable for outdoor and full‑color video signage applications. To minimize the effects of long-term exposure to direct sunlight, the encapsulation resin contains UV inhibitors, resulting in stable light output over the Cree LED's life. The PLCC6 package has increased package height to make the manufacturing process easier.

High Resolution

Unlike traditional through-hole LEDs with low resolution and poor color blending, CV28D delivers 2.5x the resolution, comparable to upgrading from standard definition 480p to full HD 1080p. The dark black package enhances contrast, producing crisper text and sharper images, while the slim 4.3mm height enables the design of thinner, lighter signs.

CV28D-enabled signs can now display icons, photos, logos, and videos. With improved branding and picture quality, the CV28D LEDs are easier to understand for all reading abilities and offer versatility for signs that can currently only display text or simple shapes.

Full-Color Brilliance with Color Blending

Powered by FusionBeam Technology, these LEDs blend individual RGB LED dies into a single, uniform color, delivering vivid, accurate colors to the intended audience. Its color uniformity is up to 18x better than standard RGB SMD signage LEDs, which only maintain color consistency in one direction (either side-to-side or up-to-down). With FusionBeam Technology, the CV28D provides true-to-life colors visible from all angles, enhancing image quality even at close distances.

Targeted Output

Cree LED CV28D components feature advanced directionality, precisely directing light toward the intended viewer while reducing light trespass and pollution by up to 4x compared to standard RGB SMD LEDs. This targeted output provides clearer, brighter displays without misdirecting light on the sky, ground, or neighboring structures, making it ideal for areas with strict light pollution regulations. When utilizing the CV28D LEDs, the front of the target is illuminated up to 52% versus the 20% for RGB SMD LEDs.

High Nit Levels for Daytime Visibility

Normal RGB SMD LEDs spread light in all forward directions, resulting in lower sign nit levels. CV28D LEDs increase the sign nit levels by concentrating light output straight out.
