Murata Thermistors
Murata Thermistors use semi-conductive ceramic and electrode printing techniques to form a temperature sensor with negative temperature characteristics, meaning resistant values decrease as ambient temperatures rise. Murata Thermistors are used widely for temperature detection devices, inrush current protection, and temperature compensation in electronics such as mobile devices, secondary batteries, and automobiles. Murata offers a variety of thermistor products to meet the demands of many applications.Current Control
In Rush Current Suppression
PTG Series PTC thermistors offer overcurrent protection and suppress surge current when a device is switched on. The PTG thermistors use ceramic materials as a means of high reliability, making end products safer and maintenance-free. The thermistors are available in different sub-series.
Circuit Protection
Current (Overcurrent Protection)
PRG Series (Resettable Fuse) PTC Thermistors feature rapid operation to protect the circuit as an overcurrent is generated. PRG thermistors automatically return to the initial states when overcurrent is eliminated and can be used repeatedly. The ceramic material used in the series ensures high reliability and quick protection after short circuits, making the equipment safer and maintenance-free.

Temperature (Overheat Sensing)
PRF Series PTC Thermistors accurately detect overheating in multiple areas using a very simple circuit through sharp changes in resistance. Using sharp changes in electrical resistance also translates into outstanding noise resistance. PRF thermistors are used for overheat sensing in FETs, power ICs, and other heat-generating areas.
Sensors
Temperature Compensation
NCP Series Temperature Sensors are ideal for temperature sensing and compensation. The chip-type thermistors are available in sizes from 0603 to 2012. Applications for NCP sensors include mobile phones, PCs, and, LED lighting equipment.
NCU Series NTC Thermistors feature excellent solderability and high stability with excellent long-time aging stability. These thermistors offer high accuracy and B-constant features. Flow/reflow soldering is possible.

NXFT Series Thermo-String Long-Lead NTC Thermistors monitor the temperature of hard-to-reach areas. Long leads (up to 100mm) allow the head of the thermistor to be situated away from the PCB or motherboard, which is near heat. The EIA 0402 case size NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) Thermistors operate in the temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Flexible coated lead wires enable simplified wiring in tight areas.
NXR Series NTC Thermistors can detect temperatures with high sensitivity and precision. The thermistors feature high lead strength and are designed for use in room-temperature sensors. Murata's unique technology for attaching lead wires allows the user to bend them for the production of equipment.
