Infineon Technologies TLE986x 2-Phase Motor/Relay Driver ICs

Infineon TLE986x Single-Chip 2-Phase Motor Drivers are automotive-qualified System-on-Chip (SoC) devices specifically designed to provide space-efficient solutions for mechatronic DC motor drive applications. Some of these DC motor drive applications include sunroofs, power window lifts, exhaust flaps, and water valve lifts. Offered as part of the Infineon® Embedded Power IC portfolio, the TLE986x offers Flash memory and MCU system clock frequency scalability. This scalability allows the TLE986x devices to support a wide range of motor control algorithms. The TLE986x 2-Phase Motor Drivers share the same MCU and peripherals as the TLE987x 3-Phase Motor Drivers to offer design synergy between DC and BLDC motor-control applications.

These single-chip devices integrate the industry-standard ARM® Cortex®-M3 core to enable the implementation of advanced motor-control algorithms. The TLE986x devices also include four fully integrated NFET drivers optimized to drive a 2-phase motor via four external power NFETs. An integrated charge pump enables low-voltage operation. TLE986x’s programmable current, along with current-slope control, optimize EMC performance. The peripheral set includes a current sensor, a successive approximation ADC synchronized with the capture and compare unit for PWM control, and 16-bit timers. An integrated LIN transceiver allows communication to the device along with a number of general-purpose I/Os. It includes an on-chip linear voltage regulator to supply external loads.
