EV/HEV Battery Management System Applications

Thermistors

TDK Thermistors include negative temperature coefficient (NTC) and positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors. The NTC thermistors offer a nickel barrier termination and long-term stability in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. The PTC series features thermally sensitive semiconductor resistors made of ceramic components in which electrical resistance rapidly increases when a certain temperature is exceeded. EPCOS / TDK Thermistors provide voltage and noise suppression as well as temperature measurement and compensation in measurement and control engineering, entertainment, household and automotive electronics, data systems, and telecommunications applications.

Circuit Protection for Automotive Solutions

TDK Circuit Protection for Automotive Solutions include inverters, onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, and battery management systems. These piezo and protection devices (PPD) are used in all key functions to make automotive charging systems smart, safe, and efficient. TDK Circuit Protection for Automotive Solutions are ideal for power converters, DC fast charging stations, and renewable energy storage systems.

Automotive Inverter Solutions

TDK Automotive Inverter Solutions feature a variety of chip NTCs, chip varistors, CeraLink® capacitors, and CeraLink snubbers. These products offer AEC-Q200 qualification, high reliability, low equivalent series inductance (ESL), and a high operating temperature. TDK Automotive Inverter Solutions are ideal for surge protection, electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, and temperature sensing.  

Automotive Onboard Charging Solutions

TDK Automotive Onboard Charging Solutions feature chip NTCs, chip varistors, leaded varistors, GFCs, surge arresters, and CeraLink® DC-link capacitors with output filtering. The leaded varistors provide high-voltage surge protection with the use of a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) inrush current limiter (ICL) for inrush current protection. TDK Automotive Onboard Charging Solution is ideal for battery charge/discharge systems, DC fast charging stations, and jumpstart protection. 

Automotive Battery Management System Solutions

TDK Automotive Battery Management System Solutions feature AEC-Q200 qualification and include chip NTCs, chip varistors, chip PTCs, and GFCs. The chip positive temperature coefficient (PTC) of the battery management system offers lead-free tinned termination, a miniaturized size, and short response times. The gas-filled contactors (GFC) operate up to 500A and 1200V with bipolar connections. TDK Automotive Battery Management System Solutions are ideal for DC fast-charge stations, overcurrent protection, and renewable energy storage systems. 

Automotive DC-DC Converter Solutions

TDK Automotive DC-DC Converter Solutions include CeraLink® DC-link capacitors, chip NTCs, and chip varistors. The CeraLink capacitors feature a miniaturized size, high capacitance density, and a high current rating. TDK Automotive DC-DC Converter Solutions are ideal for load-dump protection, engine management, power converters, and temperature measurement and compensation, depending on the model. 

SMD NTC Thermistors

TDK SMD Chip NTC Thermistors are thermally sensitive semiconductive resistors that are designed for temperature measurement and compensation. The portfolio features NTC thermistors with excellent long-term stability in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. Tight tolerances of resistance and b-value allow highly accurate temperature sensing capabilities. Applications for TDK SMD Chip NTC Thermistors include smartphones, tablets with small case sizes, automotive, LED modules, and industrial.

NTCG SMD NTC Thermistors

TDK NTCG SMD Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistors provide a wide range of resistances and B constants with high stability of resistance values after soldering. The 0603, 1005, 1608, and 2012 sizes provide identical resistance-temperature characteristics. TDK NTCG SMD Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistors use lead-less terminal electrodes and electroplating (Ni-Sn) to provide excellent solderability and soldering heat resistance. Typical applications include temperature sensors and temperature compensation.

NTC Thermistors

TDK NTC Thermistors provide voltage and noise suppression as well as temperature measurement and compensation in automotive applications. These thermistors feature multilayer NTC with inner electrodes, nickel barrier termination, and superior resistance stability during soldering. TDK NTC Thermistors offer excellent long-term aging stability in high-temperature environments.
