ams OSRAM Ambient Light Sensors (ALS) provide measurements of ambient light intensity that match the human eye's response to light under a variety of lighting conditions. These ALS enable consumer electronics device manufacturers to implement display dimming and brightness control functions. The Ambient Light Sensors (ALS) reduce power consumption and extend battery run-time, and improve the overall user experience. With high sensitivity coupled and wide dynamic range, these ALS are ideal for operation behind darkly inked glass.

The ALS provides measurements of ambient light intensity which match the human eye’s response to light under a variety of lighting conditions. In Ambient Light Sensors (ALS) each device consists of a specific operating range of performance and lux measurement from extremely low light up to bright sunlight. These ALS are used in short distances, behind dark glass in mobile phones and over longer distances for presence detection in computer displays and monitors.
