Energy Storage

Eaton Energy Storage features supercapacitors that support energy storage applications in power generation, the grid, and on the user side. The product lineup is designed to meet the challenges of stability, sustainability, and safety. Eaton supercapacitors offer up to 1M cycles and are available in a variety of termination styles, including radial, through-hole, screw, connector, and stud-threaded. These products are helping to push energy storage technology to the next level.

Supercapacitor Modules

Eaton Electronics Supercapacitor Modules are constructed by combining multiple supercapacitor cells to boost the overall energy and power output. These modules consist of interconnected cells, frequently in series and parallel configurations. By combining multiple cells, the modules provide higher voltages and expand energy storage capacities. Eaton Supercapacitor Modules feature the appropriate circuitry for monitoring and balancing cells. The lineup includes the following series: XLM, XLR, XLR-LV, XTM-18, XVM, and XLHV. Applications include transportation and automotive, renewable energy systems, industrial equipment and machinery, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), grid stabilization and peak shaving, and medical devices.

XLR-LV Compact Energy Storage Modules

Eaton Electronics XLR-LV Compact Energy Storage Modules are designed for high peak power or high-duty cycle applications and offer an IP65-rated enclosure for harsh environments. These energy storage modules feature low ESR, an easy-to-install design, and integrated cell management ideal for 12V- or 24V-powered systems. XLR-LV modules meet SAE and ISO standards for vibration, offer 16V or 18V voltage ratings, and are an ideal alternative to batteries due to their high peak power. Eaton Electronics XLR-LV Compact Energy Storage Modules operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making them suitable for transportation systems, variable frequency drives (VFD), and automated guided vehicles.

Battery Management Systems

Eaton provides a wide portfolio of products for Battery Management Systems (BMS), including terminal blocks, fuses, supercapacitors, chokes, inductors, and more. Battery Management Systems monitor individual cells, system voltage, current, and temperature. When monitoring individual cells, the BMS balances voltages and regulates the current flow, and if the upper or lower voltage, current, or temperature limit is exceeded, the BMS temporarily disconnects the load or source. Eaton Battery Management Systems estimate the State of Health (SoH), State of Charge (SoC), State of Energy (SoE), and State of Power (SoP) in batteries.

Capacitors

Eaton Electronics Capacitors are a main component in electronic systems for storing and releasing electrical energy within a circuit. These two-terminal passive components feature two conductive plates separated by an insulating dielectric material. The application of voltage across the terminals creates an electric field, accumulating positive and negative charges on the plates. Eaton Electronics offers a diverse selection of capacitor technologies, encompassing supercapacitors and film capacitors. The film capacitors are known for their stability and minimal tolerance. PowerStor® Supercapacitors

Eaton Electronics Supercapacitors provide high capacitance in smaller sizes and the lowest ESR values. Other features include high industrial temperature ranges, outstanding aging characteristics, high efficiency over the full product life, and a demonstrated operating life that exceeds 20 years. These capacitors also provide maximum energy savings and reduced running costs and eliminate the need for routine maintenance. PowerStor / Eaton Supercapacitors are used in alternate energy (solar and wind), medical (X-rays), computer (RAID storage and UPS), and industrial (elevators, forklifts, electric vehicles). They are available in cylindrical (HB, HV, and TV), snap-in cylindrical (XB,XV), and leaded cylindrical (PHB, PHV) types.
